Bar Convent Brooklyn was Incredible!

Plus : Gins You Should Seriously Consider Trying

Bar Convent Brooklyn was Incredible.

Me in front of the BCB sign. Wish I got a better photo of me there 😅

I just got back from BCB and it was incredible! Such an action packed 2 days. I saw some old friends, made same new ones, made some cocktails, and tried some incredible stuff.

Industry events like BCB always get crazy and fun. It's wild to think that it's a trade show but at the same time it's kinda like one big giant party. There was so much going on within the few days of the show, with every brand trying to outdo the next guy.

I want to tell you guys all about it but I unfortunately did not have enough time to really write about it yet. So much happened. I made some original cocktails with Tierra de Ensueño tequila, I spoke on a panel about additive-free tequilas, and got to say hi to so many people. If you were one of the people who said hi, thank you so much!

Looking forward, I have a few fun trips coming up and will be capturing and making some awesome videos about it all. I'm going to Rio de Janeiro in about a week, and then back to Guadalajara in July, and I still have some more awesome content to show you from the last time I was there.

And I just finished the rough draft of a cocktail competition that I hosted at my bar and restaurant, where 3 incredible bartenders from Boston competed. It’s one of my favorite videos I have ever made, so I can't wait for you guys to see all of that.

All of this is my way of saying, sorry this week isn't like most weeks, got a lot going on. But next week we should be back to normal. Thank you all for reading and enjoying this over the last few months. And thank you to everyone I saw at BCB. 🙏🏼

Looking for Great Gin?

We’ve got you covered.

Think gin is all about that strong juniper flavor? Lacking versatility? Check out some unique options to mix up your gin game.

Ford’s Gin (England): With a careful blend of nine botanicals, Fords Gin kicks off with the traditional juniper and coriander seed combo, jazzed up with citrus, florals, and spices. After a cozy 15-hour soak, these botanical buddies give us a zesty, fresh, and flowery spirit, sprinkled with hints of jasmine and grapefruit. It's the perfect base for whipping up any Gin-inspired cocktail your heart desires.

And did we mention that the side of the Bottle also has measurements? So using empty bottles in your bar is a no-brainer.

Bully Boy Estate Gin (Boston): Starting with a base of neutral grain and apple brandy, distilled from cider at Stormalong Cidery, they add standard botanicals like Albanian Juniper, Coriander, and lemon, alongside unique additions such as local Juniperus Virginiana, Hibiscus, Pink Peppercorn, among others kept secret. Bottled at 94 proof, their gin maintains robustness for classic cocktails, ensuring a flavorful experience that blends exotic notes with a New England essence, reflecting the versatility and character inherent in American Gin.

St. George Terroir (California): You really can’t go wrong with anything made by St. George, and this gin is a shining example of the quality they are consistently putting out. Terroir is unique because it leans heavily into the botanicals, resulting in a more herbal taste profile compared to the juniper-forward gins most people are familiar with. Truly delicious, even as a sipper.

Other expressions from St. George

Botanivore: This is a more classically styled gin that would be perfectly suited for a gin and tonic or a Martini. Loaded with juniper flavor.

Dry Rye: Incredible complexity and richness, fun and funky. Great for whiskey lovers or enthusiasts looking for a dynamic gin experience that is a little bit more “outside the box”

Other Amazing Brands that we love that you should consider:

Amazzoni (Brazil): This Brazilian gin uses botanicals native to the Amazon while staying true to classic gin structure. Think of it as a London Dry with a Brazilian twist.

Principe de Los Apostoles (Argentina):

Barr Hill (Vermont): This one is special because it's made with raw honey—creating a one-of-a-kind gin with a beautiful balance of juniper and sweetness.

Scapegrace (New Zealand): for those who enjoy a more citrus-forward gin: This gin comes in two expressions: silver (42% ABV) and gold (57% ABV). Scapegrace is perfect for cocktails, G&Ts, or even sipping on its own.
